From the humble beginnings of supplying oil rigs in Terrebonne Bay via oyster boats, to the current fleet of inland tank barges which operate on all of the major inland waterways of the United States, LeBeouf Bros. Towing, LLC has always strived to improve. This continuous improvement, enabled by the dedication of its owners and their commitment to excellence, is what allows the company to provide the level of service that the petroleum and chemical industries have grown to expect. LeBeouf Towing is a member of The American Waterways Operators (AWO) and the Responsible Carrier Program (RCP). The company also actively participates in Gulf Intracoastal Canal Association (GICA) to assist with waterways management, OCIMF Sire Inspection Program, and TMSA III Best Practices Guidlines.

The same philosophy that drives the towing operations has enabled the company to diversify their operations and enter into the shipyard business. With a fully functional shipyard, the company can build both boats and barges, gas free and clean equipment, as well as perform repairs. These capabilities provide optionality and flexibility for LeBeouf’s customer base as governmental regulations tighten and customer expectations around safety and performance increase.

As the company continues to develop and improve both towing and shipyard operations, it is able to produce and maintain one of the youngest fleets in the industry equipped with the most up to date equipment which raises the bar with relation to performance, efficiencies and safety.

LeBeouf Bros. Towing, LLC is one of the oldest marine towing companies operating on the inland waterway systems, having been formed in the early 1940s by brothers Willard and Irvin LeBeouf. In 1946, Earl Gonsoulin joined the company and became an equal partner of the company. In 1957, LeBeouf Towing was incorporated under the laws of the State of Louisiana and from that date forward the towing company grew from a two-vessel operation to its current level. In 1968, the Gonsoulin family purchased the LeBeouf family stock resulting in the company being solely owned by the Gonsoulin family. The LeBeouf Bros. Towing company name was retained.

Today the company is owned and operated by Richard “Dickie” Gonsoulin and his son, Jon Gonsoulin, and continues to uphold its reputation with its impressive, growing fleet of inland boats and double skin barges.
